Applesauce Day 2010

It was a big day, but a beautiful one to make the task of making applesauce more fun. I actually don't mind it, but some others dread it. This year we did 2.5 bushels - not bad and it really didn't feel like too much work. We were lucky to have my aunt, Rosemary there to help. She really made the day go fast, especially since we used her stove to cook apples.

Mom and dad gave us a new strainer for Christmas this past year. It's wonderful! The base suctions to the counter-top (or any surface) and is so much better than the clamp on the side of the counter. There's no wiggling or wobbling - less frustration and mess too!

As you can see, Mason hung out in several different locations through the process. In the seat on the table, in the backpack, and also asleep in the pack n play. He did well and made it that much easier on us.

I don't even know how many quarts we got. We froze some and canned most of it. I don't even have a final picture! But, we're glad for the sauce and we're already enjoying it.
