Beach Vacation :: Day 8, the drive home

The drive home from vacation is never nearly as fun or exciting as the drive to vacation! We left before the sun came up to get a few hours of driving in while Mason and Micah were still sleeping/quiet.
We stopped to go to the bathroom and get something to eat and Micah was happy to take the opportunity to "play" in the van.
 Ahhh...post vacation car naps!
We decided to detour thought Franklin/Nashville, TN since we'd never explored the area and we were driving right through it.
We stopped and walked along the streets of Franklin for a bit and enjoyed the sites. It's a very cute, quaint town that was quite busy on a Saturday afternoon in the fall.
Sweet CeCe's FroYo was a fun treat!
The canon across the street from the FroYo shop in Franklin was a nice play area, whether it was meant to be or not!
Mason and Brian stopped for a drink in a cute cafe.
Ready to get back in the van...well, ready or not!
We drove through a few battlefield areas and war memorials. The history of the Nashville area is intriguing.
And we're back on the road to home equipped with pencil and calendar to do some appointment making.
 Nashville skyline.
We stopped for a late supper at Chickfila and let the boys play for a bit. Everyone was ready to sleep soon after our stop and we got home about 22 hours after we left Florida. Glad to be home and thankful for a fun vacation together!

Beach Vacation :: Day 7

Friday...our last day at the beach. Luckily it was a sunny day and we could enjoy it to the fullest!
Most days I started out with a run on the paved walk/run/bike path that runs right along 30A. Other than being hot and humid, I enjoyed the scenery and all the traffic passing me.
Loaded up in the van and driving to the beach. Our house was within walking distance, but as you can see, we took a few things with us this day and it was easier to drive the ½ mile than walk everything there.
Our two umbrella set-up. It was a nice day, overcast as some points but the sun did peak out through the clouds.
Brian and Mason enjoying the ocean. They had lots of fun floating and playing and chatting together. The water was normally quite calm and comfortable, making it great for Mason to enjoy.
Getting a few last day pictures...
Mason doing his part to carry things down to our spot.
Micah did his share of snacking and making the chairs sandy.
We had a pile of trash to throw away, so we kept Mason busy by giving him one thing at a time to run back and forth to the trash cans. He would come back asking for the next thing to throw away!
 Beautiful views!
 Clear water!
Enjoying books and snacks in the sunshine...our favorite!
Posing at the top of the steps.
 Beach nappin'...
Enjoying all their toys and the sand.
The water was just right for enjoying.
 Playing and digging.
These three started a game of throwing a ball into the water and chasing after it and then throwing it back up onto the shore.
Micah's turn to chase the ball.
Brian did water duty while M&M played and laughed and threw him the ball over and over.
Many Capri Suns were consumed by M&M through the week.
We stayed at the beach extra long enjoying our last few hours and then ate dinner at Marie's Bistro right in Blue Mountain Beach where our house was.
Trying to finish up the popsicles before we left!

Beach Vacation :: Day 6

Today started out a bit cloudy, so we played inside the house for a while. Micah loved driving vehicles around the square coffee table.
Hugs!
We made a run to the Donut Hole for a dozen donuts. Donut Hole is an iconic place to go for donuts while visiting the Destin/30A area. The line to sit down and eat breakfast was out the door, but there was just a short line for donuts.
It took us a few minutes to pick and choose which 12 donuts we wanted to take home with us. In the end, they were all delicious and we could have devoured 12 more!
Face timing with Grandpa Doug who wasn't able to join us this year due to taking several weeks off earlier in the year for his hip replacement surgeries. I think M&M were telling him how good their donuts tasted!
Since the weather still wasn't very sunny, we decided to go back to Seaside to eat lunch at the food trucks.
More playing and silliness in the big king bed!
A snack of raisins on the cooler.
No beach for us this day, but we did go to the pool for a few minutes. Micah enjoyed walking around and watching Mason and daddy play.
Testing the water...a bit cool for a cloudy day!
These two didn't seem to mind it much!
More playtime with the trucks!
